The Center
The Abdulla Oripov Poetry and Memorial Center in Houston is a house-museum in the home where the poet spent the final years of his life.
The Center is not a purpose-built museum. It is the home where the poet lived, worked and spent his days. Two rooms have been set aside and kept as Abdulla Oripov left them.
They hold his personal belongings, manuscripts, books, official documents and photographs from across his life. Visitors can experience directly the surroundings in which he lived and wrote.
It was in Houston that Abdulla Oripov created nearly 200 poems and wrote his dramatic work “Samoviy toʻy” (Heavenly Wedding).
The Center opened officially to the public on 23 June 2026, following an opening ceremony held with family and friends on 21 June.
It is intended as more than a place of remembrance: a source of inspiration and international literary exchange for young people, researchers and readers of poetry.
